My New Motto

Tuesday, August 3, 2010

If not now, when?
For example:
If I don't exercise now, when?
If I don't eat healthy now, when?
If I don't clean my kitchen now, when?
If I don't live the life I wanna live now, when?
If I'm not healthy now, WHEN???

It makes me realize that if I don't do it now, I'm never gonna do it! And I don't want to live the rest of my life this way...so I do it NOW! Like today: I had talked myself out of running my mile today for so many reasons...until it was 9:30 at night! And finally, I realized "This is ridiculous. You've talked yourself out of this for 12 hours now!" So I did it. I never want to run my mile at night again...it was sort of scary! I think I learned my lesson: get it over with and then it won't be hanging over your head all day and you won't waste time arguing with yourself all day and you won't have to go run in the dark, worried that the bogeyman's gonna get you!

Woohoo!

I feel accomplished! I've been trying to get back at running for a couple of weeks now. (Contrary to popular belief, you CAN run when you're heavy.) Anyways, I get really bored with doing the same things over and over. I had been running 1 min, walking 1 min, for 20 min. but then I got bored and quit for a week. THEN, on Friday, I decided to time myself running a mile. At first I could barely run half of it and I clocked in at 17:55. :P Saturday, I knocked off ONE MINUTE AND 22 SECONDS for a total of 16:33. Sunday, I walked 3 miles with a younger fitter friend. :) Today, I did it in 15:26! So, I've knocked off a total of 2:29! In 3 times of running it! This totally makes me want to keep going! Plus, I ran almost all of it except for 2 curved ends. :D

In a better frame of mind...

Sorry about earlier. I just get so frustrated sometimes! And I am glad to have blog friends to vent to, so thanks all of you! :) I went to the gym after I posted that and I was so much happier after I got out of the gym! I pushed myself hard, but not so hard that I would not want to go back tomorrow. In fact, I think I'm getting addicted to it again and that's a good thing to be addicted to! :) I'm working on a couch-to-5k running program. I've always wanted to run a race someday, so that's my goal. In fact, an acquaintance casually invited me to run a half-marathon with her next year. I don't know if I'll be that advanced, but I can work towards it and see how much I can accomplish! :D Also, a friend is getting married in a month and I really want to be seeing results by then. That kept me super motivated today and hopefully it continues to do so! :)

Oh, yeah, and I went to the weekly potluck again tonight. This time a couple people asked me about what I was eating, if I was on a diet, etc. I told them the truth, that I've cut a lot of things that don't agree with me out of my diet and I feel a lot better. They seemes pretty receptive to what I was saying. It also plants a seed in their own mind that maybe the things that don't make you feel good, don't make them feel good! Win-win for all! :)
